What are Fire Valves?
Fire safety valves are installed in oil boilers and other oil-burning devices that are at risk from fires. If the temperature rises above a specific threshold the Five Valve will trip and cut off the supply of fuel to the burner.
This model is a capillary fire valve, which works by connecting the sensor probe to the trip switch by long copper wires with a hollow core. By selecting 2m, 3m or 6m variants, you can still install a capillary fire valve, even if the oil supply line is located away from the boiler.
Capillary fire valves, otherwise known as Remote Sensing Fire Valves should be installed according to BS 5410: Part 1: 1997 which is referenced as a requirement in the Building Regulations and Standards for England and Wales (Part J), Scotland (Part F) and the Republic of Ireland (Part J).

No maintenance is required, provided that the CFV is correctly installed. The CFV must be tested annually by subjecting the sensor to the models rated shut off temperature and ensuring the reset/shutoff button on the underside of the valve body pops out automatically indicating that the CFV has activated. Once the sensor has cooled push the reset/shutoff button back in to re-open the valve.
